Our Story

ReBuilder Medical began with a singular mission: to restore quality of life for people suffering from chronic nerve pain—without relying on drugs or invasive procedures. Founded by Dr. David B. Phillips, a Harvard- and MIT-trained medical technologist, ReBuilder was born out of both personal motivation and scientific insight. After witnessing the limitations of traditional pain management, Dr. Phillips set out to develop a smarter, safer solution using neuroelectric therapy to target the root causes of neuropathy, not just the symptoms. The result was the ReBuilder system—an FDA-registered Class II medical device designed to improve microcirculation, support nerve repair, and deliver lasting pain relief.

Today, ReBuilder Medical stands at the intersection of innovation and compassion, helping tens of thousands of patients reduce pain, improve mobility, and reclaim their independence. Our story is one of continuous research, clinical collaboration, and a deep commitment to helping patients and providers achieve better outcomes.

About Our Founder

Dr. David B. Phillips, MD, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized electronic
medical device inventor with a distinguished career spanning more than four
decades. A graduate of MIT and Harvard, he holds numerous patents and was named Inventor of the Year in 1986 for creating the infrared ear thermometer, now the global standard for measuring core body temperature. He has dedicated his life to developing safe science-driven technologies, like the ReBuilder, that provide practical, non-pharmacologic solutions for chronic conditions.

His mission is also deeply personal. After his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, Dr. Phillips partnered with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York to research early detection technologies—leading to the development of the GST Breast Cancer Detection System. That experience solidified his
commitment to creating non-invasive, drug-free innovations aimed at improving patient outcomes and restoring quality of life.

Dr. Phillips’ work has been widely recognized across both medical and consumer health communities. He has appeared on national television and been featured in multiple media outlets for his pioneering contributions. As both a scientist and entrepreneur, he remains dedicated to advancing evidence-based solutions that empower physicians and enhance care for patients worldwide.
